The Many Lives of Lola Lane
Lola Lane (@dear_lola_lane on Instagram) stands for a multitude of variations and mutations of the self, a fluid-identity character living different lives simultaneously. «The Many Lives of Lola Lane» is a compulsive compilation of these alter-egos, where artist Maria Guta is both physically (wigs, makeup, costumes) and digitally (beauty apps and filters) transformed. Guta chose to show this collection as a whole in reference to the obsessive urge of constantly staging, curating and producing variations of our digital, upgraded self for social media. The work also investigates phenomenons such as self-marketing, personal branding, monetising on personal data and influencer strategy patterns.
