Lasting Generation

«You guys did reach out to us an insane number of times. Now is the first time that we reach out to you!»

What if AI weren’t our assistant or competitor, but an ally against polarization and exploitation? What if algorithms expanded our consciousness instead of intensifying opinions? How can we reimagine what was born of war and control in a utopian way? Welcome to a hybrid symposium on climate care hosted by AI. Confronting us with our responsibility for the planet’s future, they act as mediators between humanity and nature. While shedding light on the ambivalences of future-oriented technologies, the video essay unfolds as an ode to non-human intelligence. In a live element, visitors themselves become hybrid creatures—training empathy for those unlike them.

Theresa Reiwer is a Berlin-based (post)digital artist who creates multi-channel video works, XR formats, and spatial installations that expand the tangible into the digital – and vice versa – using 3D, game engines, photogrammetry, motion capture, AI tools, and analog methods. Text is central to her practice, often developed through collaborations with authors, large language models, and research. Lecture-like forms are cinematically stylized, while dialogues voiced by humanoid agents interweave multiple perspectives. Drawing on real events and pop culture, her works stage speculative visions that blur fiction and reality. Her practice focuses on artificial intelligence, explored both as a mirror of societal paradigms and as a tool for imagining alternative futures. Projects include «Decoding Bias»(2023), a self-help group for AIs confronting prejudice, and «Lasting Generation» (2024), an AI-hosted symposium on climate care and interspecies solidarity. Her works have been shown at Ars Electronica, Next Level Festival, and in cities such as Basel, Beijing, Berlin, Graz, Istanbul, Miami, Morelos (Mexico), Stockholm, and Zurich. She has received recognition including the Lumen Prize Gold Award (London, 2024), BBA Artist Prize (2024), Mart Stam Prize (2019), as well as fellowships from the Elsa Neumann Stipend (2020) and currently the Haus for Media Art (2025).
